Recital Sandro Gegechkori

Pianist Sandro Gegechkori will give a recital as part of the Gijón International Piano Festival programme, in the courtyard of the Centro Cultural Antiguo Instituto, with free admission. Recognised for his brilliant international career, powerful artistic personality, and profound interpretative depth, Gegechkori will present a solo piano programme exploring the expressive power, dramatic intensity, and virtuosity of the great piano repertoire of the 20th century.

Under the title “1908 D – A 1940”, the recital offers a journey through two essential works of the Russian piano repertoire: Sergei Rachmaninoff’s Piano Sonata No. 1, Op. 28 and Sergei Prokofiev’s Piano Sonata No. 6, Op. 82. Two major composers who, through very different musical languages, reflect the emotional intensity, innovation, and extraordinary sonic richness of an era marked by profound musical and cultural transformations.
