Kyu Yeon Kim & OSPA

Pianist Kyu Yeon Kim will be the featured soloist in one of the major symphonic events of the Gijón International Piano Festival, performing with the Orquesta Sinfónica del Principado de Asturias (OSPA) under the direction of Miguel Sepúlveda.

Kyu Yeon Kim is an internationally acclaimed pianist, recognised with prizes at prestigious competitions including the Dublin International Piano Competition, the Queen Elisabeth International Music Competition, the Cleveland International Piano Competition, and the Geneva International Music Competition. She has performed in some of the world’s most prestigious venues, including Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Kennedy Center, and the Seoul Arts Center, and has appeared as a soloist with orchestras such as The Philadelphia Orchestra, The Cleveland Orchestra, the National Orchestra of Belgium, and the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra. Trained at institutions including the Curtis Institute of Music and the Manhattan School of Music, where she earned her Doctor of Musical Arts degree, she is currently Associate Professor of Piano at Seoul National University.

The programme will be dedicated to Ludwig van Beethoven, one of the most influential composers in the history of music and a central figure in both the piano and orchestral repertoire.
